Clinics
And Other Services
These are provided by the doctors,
practice nurses and health visitors. Please contact the receptionist who will
advise you about appointment times. All other health care appointments such
as blood pressure measurement, immunisations (apart from those for children),
minor surgery, maternity care and family planning advice will be provided within
normal surgery times. This is for the convenience of patients as such appointments
can be provided on every weekday of every week.
Infant And Baby Immunisation Clinic
Dr Morrison runs this clinic in conjunction with the practice nurse. It is held each Tuesday morning between 10.00 - 11.45 am, no appointment necessary.
Appointments for child immunisations are bookable outside of these times.
Child Health Clinic
The health visitors run this clinic and offer advice on child and infant health, growth monitoring, health promotion and parenting support. It is held each Monday afternoon between 1.30 - 3.30 pm, no appointment necessary.
Diabetes
Diabetes
care within the practice is co-ordinated by our practice nurse who is specially
trained in its management. We offer a full assessment of your diabetes on a yearly
basis. This assessment offers you the opportunity to discuss all aspects of your
condition.
Asthma
Asthma care within the practice
is co-ordinated by our practice nurses, who have received specific training to
manage this condition. We offer a full assessment once a year for those on treatment
for asthma to check that they are on optimal treatment and to discuss any practical
issues such as their use of the inhaler device or peak flow meter.
Family
Planning Services
All the doctors and a practice nurse provide
this service and will discuss individual needs.
Pre-conceptual
Advice
The practice offers pre-conceptual advice which is especially
important if you have diabetes or epilepsy.
Antenatal Clinics
Patients
are seen by the midwife at the clinic by appointment on Wednesdays between 8.45
- 11.45am and on Fridays between 10.30am and 12 noon.
Postnatal
The doctor offers a postnatal follow-up six weeks after the birth of your baby.
Cervical
Smears
All women aged 25-64 are routinely offered a smear test
every three to five years. Your invitation to attend is organised by the Stockport
Primary Care Trust on behalf of the practice and is carried out by the practice
nurse or the doctors. Appointments can be made via the receptionist.
Emergency
Contraception
Requests for this will be dealt with on the same day as requested.
Smoking Cessation
This service is offered by the doctors, practice nurses and healthcare assistant. Please book an appointment at reception.
Minor
Surgery
Dr Marshall and Dr Hardman have been approved
to carry out minor surgical procedures which include removal of warts and minor
skin blemishes. This appointment will only be made after prior discussion and
assessment with your doctor. You will then need to book an appointment for the
minor surgery clinic with the receptionist.
Dr Marshall has vasectomy clinics
each Thursday afternoon.
Influenza And Pneumonia Vaccine
In
accordance with Department of Health guidelines, we recommend an influenza and
pneumonia vaccination for patients over 65 and those with heart, lung or kidney
disease, diabetes, asthma, immunosuppressed and residents of nursing and rest
homes. The flu vaccination clinics start in October - please contact the reception
for details of the vaccination dates and to make an appointment. We will arrange
home visits for housebound patients.
Travel Immunisations/Vaccinations
The
practice nurses can advise you and administer the inoculations you may require
for travel abroad. It is advisable to seek an appointment at least eight weeks
before your departure date. Please note there is a charge for some of these vaccinations
and the accompanying certificates - the receptionist will inform you of these
charges before your appointment.
Patients Over 75 Years
If
you are aged 75 or over you will be offered an annual health check by either your
doctor or the practice nurse. This can be arranged by contacting the receptionist.
Health Promotion
The aim of promoting health is to try to identify risk factors at an early stage and prevent them from causing ill health. For this reason we will ask about smoking and drinking habits and measure blood pressure and weight from time to time. This is especially wise in people with a family history of heart disease, diabetes or strokes.
Carers Service
The practice is keen to identify carers who look after sick or disabled relatives, friends, neighbours, partners or children in their own homes. It is important that carers should receive appropriate support by way of access to accurate information on a range of topics such as entitlement to benefits and respite care. Please contact the reception for a carer identification form and information pack.
Charges
Charges may be made for services to patients which are not available on the NHS such as travel vaccinations, private medical certificates, private insurance claim forms and various types of medical examination. The receptionist will inform you of these charges, a list of which is displayed at reception for your information.
Chaperones
If
you wish a chaperone to be in attendance during your consultation, please inform
the reception manager who will arrange for a member of staff to be present.
