HOW
DO I...
MAKE
AN APPOINTMENT?
Consultations are by appointment only which may be made by telephoning 0161 480 3338 or by calling at the surgery. Urgent medical problems which you feel cannot wait until the next routine appointment will always be dealt with on the same day. This also includes emergency contraception. Routine appointments may be made well in advance (maximum one month), which will enable us to offer you an appointment at a time more suitable to your requirements. We make every effort to run on time and therefore it is the policy of the practice that if you are more than 10 minutes late, you may be asked to re-book your appointment.
The practice has a patient appointment reminder service via SMS texting for those patients who have given us their mobile phone number.
It is hoped that this service will act as a reminder for patients thus reducing the number of patients who do not attend for their appointments.
CANCELLING AN APPOINTMENT
This can be done by telephoning the surgery between 8.30am and 6.00pm Monday to Friday on 0161 480 3338
You can also text the surgery to cancel an appointment:
Text name and date of birth to 07968 672101
Please note this service is only for the CANCELLATION of appointments and is text only. Other queries cannot be answered via this system and telephone calls will not be answered.
Appointments are made for one person. If other members of the family need to consult the doctor or practice nurse, please make a separate appointment.
Patient Preference Of Doctor
Patients can request to see any doctor within the practice, subject to that doctor being available.
Remember: if you wish a chaperone to be in attendance during your consultation, please inform the reception manager who will arrange for a member of staff to be present.
HOW
DO I...
OBTAIN
TELEPHONE ADVICE?
If
you would like to discuss a matter over the telephone please contact the surgery
after 10.00am. Should you like to discuss a matter with the doctor or practice nurse, the receptionist
will take your telephone number and details of the information required. If your
enquiry is urgent then your call will be returned the same day; otherwise please
expect a call from the practice within 24 hours. Please remember that many enquiries
eg results, appointments, letters, prescriptions, can be dealt with by the practice
nurse or administrative member of staff.
HOW
DO I...
OBTAIN
A HOME VISIT?
Please only request a home visit if the patient is genuinely unable to be
brought to the surgery. Home visits are only made for medical reasons, not social
reasons such as lack of transport. Patients are requested to telephone on the
day they require the visit before 10.00am. Please give the receptionist as much
information as possible to enable the doctor to allocate priority to house calls.
The doctor who allocates the visits may telephone you back to ascertain if a home
visit is appropriate.
HOW
DO I...
OBTAIN
TEST RESULTS?
Please telephone the surgery between 1.30 and 6.00pm Monday to Friday to
obtain the results of your investigations. You should telephone 10 days after
the test has been carried out. The doctor will usually advise the receptionist
of your results, allowing information to be passed on to you over the telephone.
Sometimes the doctor may want to discuss the result with you and you may be asked
to make an appointment. The reason for this is that some laboratory results are
complicated to translate and are, therefore, better explained by your doctor.
Specimens may be left with the receptionist before 2.30pm Monday to Friday. Please
ensure that the specimen container is properly labelled as investigations will
not be carried out on un-labelled specimens.
